Ok, the wait was long, but I have to say it was well worth it. If you are looking for a replacement to the stock cable (and want an upgrade to boot), look no further. I have an ER3-XR that I bought on Amazon as "slightly used" from the Amazon Warehouse. Unfortunately the stock cable came broken as the left side did not work out of the box. Amazon refunded half my money and it was up to me to find a replacement cable. Wow did I underestimate how hard that would be to do for a reasonable price. The stock replacement cable from Etymotic retails for $60. This is almost as much as I paid for the lightly used ER3s. Custom sites that offer the "Etymotic MMXC connector" were few, and very expensive (over $80). I didn't realize that the angular shape of the connectors was such a "novel" design in that there were roughly zero non-custom versions I could find in the U.S. with the exact same shape (other than the official replacement of course). I tried a pair with straight MMXC connectors from Amazon. The cable itself was fine, but the connectors stuck straight out of my ear (not a great look) and did not lock in place. This meant that the cable could separate from the earbud easily when removing them or even adjusting them. Etymotic uses a proprietary "notch" on their cable to get it to snap into place on the earbuds themselves. I read about Lunashops online as one of the few stores that offered a multiple varieties of replacement cable with the correct shape to match the shape of the connectors on the Etymotic stock cable. While they do not advertise this, the Etymotic MMCX earbuds screw right into place on this Lunashop cable. This means once you "install" it correctly, the earbud stays attached to the cable, even with tugging. If you want to remove the cable, simply unscrew the connector from the earbud. I'm very happy about this feature. As for the cable itself, I'd say it twice as thick (or close to it) as the stock cable. It's definitely heavier as a result, although I wouldn't call it "heavy". L and R designations are clearly marked on the MMXC connectors. The 3.5mm stereo jack is a significant upgrade from the stock cable. The "casing" of the jack is larger, sturdier and made out of metal. The stock 3.5mm jack is a 90 degree angled connector coated in rubber like plastic. While it does the job (I don't think it'd be prone to breaking with normal use), it's significantly less sturdy than the Lunashop jack. The only downside (and it's not really fair to call it a downside) is that it takes a LONG time to receive these in the U.S. from Hong Kong. They told me it would take 30 to 45 days when I ordered it. What did I expect for such low shipping cost from Hong Kong? Anyway, you have to be patient. If you are, it's worth the wait in my opinion. The cable is an upgrade to stock in every way and cost me a total of $38.00 U.S. shipped. This is more than $20 less than the stock cable. Customer service was also great. I ordered two days before 21 days of Chinese holidays started and they got it in the mail a day after I ordered it. A word about the package tracking. The 17 Track website worked out but do not expect day by day updates on the status of your package. I had several weeks where the status did not change. The package appeared to sit in Holland for a few weeks before it shipped. I didn't get regular updates until it left finally left Holland and actually arrived in the U.S. Once it entered the USPS system, I was getting regular updates. Like I said, if you can afford to be patient, it's totally worth it. I couldn't be happier with these! I'll definitely order from Lunashops again if I have the need!
